Clash of the Corporates is an annual competition, conducted by The Wallich, which gives businesses just 50 days to use their corporate know-how to grow a £50 investment.

In 2017, nine teams have battled to win three awards and raise as much money as possible for The Wallich. From sponsored walks to curry nights, colouring books to quizzes, the teams pulled together to give it their all.

With all money declared by the teams, including Nationwide Building Society and Le Gros Solicitors, competitors attended an awards evening at The Hashery in Cardiff to reveal the competition’s winners.

Rising to the top

The winners, St David’s | Dewi Sant, were presented the trophy for “Most Money Raised” by BBC Wales Business Correspondent, Brian Meechan.

St David’s | Dewi Sant utilised its shopping centre to undertake bucket collections and a raffle, raising a whopping £8,096.47.

Other awards were presented to Minuteman Press for Most Creative Idea, and Le Gros Solicitors for Best Teamwork, by Brian Meechan.

The money raised from Clash of the Corporates will be ringfenced for The Wallich’s Rough Sleepers’ Intervention Teams across Wales, helping to get people off the street and into safety.

The Wallich’s Corporate Fundraising Manager, Mike Walmsley, said:

“Our super Clash of the Corporates teams have done us really proud this year. We’ve seen some of the most inventive ideas and, of course, the most money we’ve ever seen raised in this competition.

“Clash is a great opportunity for businesses to show generosity, innovation and teamwork in aid of some of the most vulnerable people in our community. We’re delighted that members of Wales’s business community have worked incredibly hard to deliver such a fantastic result for rough sleepers.”

Thank you to all nine teams who took part in this year’s fierce Clash of the Corporates event: St David’s | Dewi Sant, DAC Beachcroft, Nationwide Building Society, Le Gros Solicitors, Thompson Reuters, HSBC, Minuteman Press, JLT Premier Pensions and The Hashery.

You’ve all been fantastic competitors and we hope you’ll join us for another round next year.
