Generous customers of Tesco Swansea Marina have been supporting The Wallich with donations for their hostel, Dinas Fechan.
The store operates a donation table by the main entrance where shoppers can leave food items, clothing and toiletries to be used by the people that access the hostel. Kind-hearted trolley boy, Dai Sweeny, has been delivering the donations in his spare time.
Dinas Fechan is a hostel on the Strand that provides temporary accommodation and support for people who are homeless in the Swansea area. The project also operates the Rough Sleepers Intervention Team which provides an outreach and support service as well as breakfast to homeless people on the streets, which operates from Monday to Friday.
Kumar Chetri, Senior Support Worker at Dinas Fechan Hostel said:
“We are so grateful to Tesco and the people of Swansea for their donations. The Wallich really appreciates all the support we can get from the public to enable us to continue offering our services to some of the most vulnerable people in the area”.
Paul Collins, Tesco Service Manager at the Swansea Marina store added:
“Customers told us that they wanted to help local charities who have a real impact on our local community and we’ve had a great response since we started collecting for The Wallich. We’re aware of The Wallich through their work on the breakfast run and we wanted to support homeless people as they move on into the hostel too”.
If you want to support homeless people in Swansea then donations can be made at Tesco Swansea Marina at any time.
