TAI YN GYNTAF (Housing First) Gwynedd is a recovery-oriented approach to ending homelessness.
The focus is on helping people experiencing homelessness find a settled home, then offering support for as long as it is needed to maintain that home.
What is Housing First?
The Housing First approach focuses on getting people who have complex support needs, who are also homeless, straight into their own safe and permanent accommodation rather than using temporary solutions, such as a hostel place, which is often unsuitable for their needs.
Once housed, Tai Yn Gyntaf offers ongoing, person-centred and intensive support for as long as it is needed. This may involve things like:
- Help with accessing the right benefits
- Addressing debt or rent arrears
- Understanding tenancy rights and obligations
- Accessing specialist services
- Accessing wellbeing, learning and employment opportunities
The Tai Yn Gyntaf service is a specialist service available by referral only.
