We’re looking for local businesses and organisations to battle it out in our annual business challenge ‘Clash of the Corporates’.

Companies across South East Wales are being encouraged to enter a team into the challenge, where the objective is to turn a starting amount of £50 into as much money as possible – with all proceeds going to the charity.

Zoe Westerman, Corporate Strategic Relationships Manager at The Wallich, said: “Cardiff is home to some brilliant creative and entrepreneurial individuals and businesses.
Clash of the Corporates is a great way to bring the local business community together through some healthy competition.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what innovative and creative fundraising ideas the teams come up with this year to help raise vital funds for our charity.”

As well as benefiting The Wallich, the challenge offers many benefits to those taking part; it provides a unique and beneficial team building opportunity, allows company employees to network with other local businesses and there are great publicity opportunities.

Raising over £14,000, last years challenge saw 17 businesses compete for awards including Most Money Raised, Most Creative Idea and Best Teamwork.

Last year Peacocks Retail Group were overall challenge winners turning their initial £50 investment into £3,000 for the charity, with ideas such as a children’s drawing competition, head office dress down days and a raffle.

Other companies who took part came up with various fundraising ideas such as rugby match day face painting, a social media campaign, corporate cinema screening, bake sales, car washes, and soup kitchens.

The money raised went towards a Mobile Night Provision Bus Service. The bus is to provide a mobile drop-in centre, which serves tea, coffee and food to homeless people every night across Newport, Swansea and Bridgend.

It will also provide emergency accommodation referrals along with additional support referrals to services for mental health and advocacy as well as being an opportunity to provide shelter for a few hours each evening.

Peter Allchorne, Partner, DAC Beachcroft pictured in the photo, who took part last year said “We were delighted to engage in The Wallich’s inaugural Clash of the Corporates fundraising programme.

“As well as supporting the work of an important local charity, the DAC Beachcroft team benefited from developing leadership and teamwork skills, while having fun along the way. We would certainly encourage other local businesses to participate.”

Clash of the Corporates officially launches on September 12th and once the 50 days are complete, all teams will be invited to celebrate their efforts at an awards ceremony on November 3.

A number of businesses have already pledged their support including Lloyds Banking Group, Cardiff & Vale College and Stills. for the challenge but there is still time for more teams to sign up.
