WISE is designed to support people who have experienced homelessness to move into work, either with The Wallich or with our corporate partners across South Wales. Sixty referrals were made for clients to join the WISE project for the 2018/19 semester, with twenty people being accepted.
Our clients gain a wealth of experience from our pre-employability training such as; confidence building, goal setting, communication skills, dressing for work and interview skills.
Practical experience includes mentoring, industry-standard qualifications and on-the-job learning through work placements.
Graduates, and the organisations that go on to hire them, are also offered support through their probationary period to make sure their employment is sustainable.
The summer WISE graduates of 2019 now have better confidence and skills to pursue their dream career.
Lolita, a spring 2019 WISE participant, said:
Joining the WISE project is the best thing I could of ever done. I’m excited that I’m moving forward. I’m doing things to help people. I want to show them that it doesn’t mean you have to stay where you’ve been.

I’m so proud of this semester’s participants. They’ve all been dedicated to the project and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones to graduate. I cannot wait to launch the project in Swansea and help more people get back into employment.
