Torfaen Private Rented Sector (PRS) Support

Torfaen Private Rented Sector (PRS) Support provides advice, information and assistance to people accessing private rented accommodation

The Torfaen Private Rented Sector (PRS) team increases access to housing in the private rented sector. 

We also help tackle challenges that individuals and households face when trying to secure accommodation within the private rented sector. 

We work with people across Torfaen including Cwmbran, and Pontypool.  

The team focuses on: 

• Prevention of homelessness 
• Assisting in the development of the private rented sector in Torfaen as a housing solution for residents 
• Ensuring that the availability of good quality accommodation is increased, as part of Torfaen Council’s approach to the prevention of homelessness 

Torfaen PRS team works with colleagues across Torfaen Council (such as Environmental Health, Legal, and Benefits) to improve quality standards in the private rented sector and access to private rented housing as an accommodation choice. 

The Torfaen Private Rented Sector team assist in engaging and developing positive relationships between private sector landlords and tenants.  

We support landlords to provide good services to their tenants and to positively engage with Torfaen Council, e.g. promote and develop landlord offers and assist tenants to move into rental properties.
