Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, has strengthened its relationship with The Wallich in Wrexham through its Give a Day of Your Time volunteering scheme, an initiative that offers employees two days of paid leave each year to volunteer for causes that matter to them.
The partnership began in May, when Jane OLeary, Sector Director – Devolved Government at Tilbury Douglas, took part in the 2025 CEO Sleepout at Cardiff Castle, joining fellow business leaders to raise vital funds and awareness for The Wallich. This shared experience sparked an ongoing collaboration to support the charity’s work in creating safe and welcoming spaces for people affected by homelessness across Wales.
A team of six colleagues from Tilbury Douglas recently used their volunteer days to redecorate the offices, TV room and pool room at The Wallich’s St John’s project in Wrexham.
Working alongside local decorating subcontractor, Broken Colour, the team completed 12 volunteer days in total, carefully planning the work to minimise disruption for residents and staff. The value of the works came to more than £8,480.
The Wallich is a leading homelessness charity in Wales, providing accommodation and support to help people rebuild their lives and move away from homelessness. The refreshed spaces in Wrexham will make a meaningful difference by creating a brighter, more welcoming environment for residents to relax, connect and access vital services.
Martin Horne, Regional Director – North West at Tilbury Douglas, commented:
“Our Give a Day of Your Time initiative is about making a tangible difference in the communities where we live and work. It’s been inspiring to see our team come together with our supply chain partners to support The Wallich and create spaces that residents can genuinely enjoy.”
Jodie Lawler, Service Manager at The Wallich, added:
“Providing a roof over someone’s head is great, but offering a calm, homely space for residents is an important step out of homelessness for good. I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone at Tilbury Douglas for the fantastic decorating work completed at The Wallich Wrexham hostels. The transformation has made such a positive difference to our spaces, and we’re incredibly grateful that you carried out this work.”
“The team’s generosity, professionalism, and attention to detail has been outstanding, and the residents and staff alike have already commented on how much brighter and more welcoming the hostels feel. We truly appreciate the time, effort, and kindness that went into supporting us, it means a great deal to both our team and the people we support.”
