The countdown to kick off has begun, with the opening match on Sunday 20 November, teams around the world are coming together to compete for the title.
Whether you’re a football fanatic or are caught in football fever, a sweepstake is a great way to get involved with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and bond with people in your personal life or workplace.
For many of the people we work with, from people sleeping rough to residents in our hostels, football is often a bonding subject.
Having a kick about or roasting each other about the latest scores is a bit of normality which breaks the ice, strengthen relationships and helps people feel like they belong to a community once again.
As an organisation who has supported the Homeless World Cup and recently became a sponsor of Street Football Wales, we know how football can help people experiencing homelessness with their mental health, confidence and skills.
The Wallich is unapologetically supporting Cymru in the 2022 World Cup. It’s an historic moment, after a 64-year wait for the Welsh squad, and we hope the tournament brings joy to everyone we support and work with.
From seeing Wales play at Cardiff City Stadium or the Racecourse on a match day, we’ve seen first-hand, the heart and passion shown by Welsh fans and Y Wal Goch.
That heart and passion is exactly what we need to help demonstrate to people experiencing homelessness that they aren’t alone, and they deserve to feel included in Welsh communities.
We hope that no matter which team you draw out of the sweepstake, you’ll get behind their efforts knowing that you’ll also be supporting a leading homelessness and rough sleeping charity to support people experiencing homelessness.
