There’s no wrong or right way to fundraise and Do Your Thing embraces that, championing creativity and freedom.
When people are empowered to do things their own way, positive change follows.
Whether it’s a danceathon, a cold-water dip, or something completely original, every contribution raises cash, inspires others and sparks imagination for a vital cause.
An event, a challenge, or a simple act of giving.

From the adventurous to the unconventional, there are endless ways to support.
Here’s a few fundraising ideas our brilliant supporters have already done to inspire you.
What began as a 10-bed hostel in 1978 has grown into a nationwide movement, delivering more than 100 services across Wales and providing more than 400 beds every night.
Our work focuses on three core pillars:
Through outreach, accommodation, and support services, we help people rebuild confidence, independence, and stability.
The money raised through your unique activities goes directly toward removing the barriers that stand between a person and a stable home.
Your support changes lives like Adele’s and Faisal’s.
After experiencing domestic abuse and rough sleeping, Adele received support from a specialist Wallich women’s service. Since graduating from a training programme, she’s now restarting her career as a mechanic.
On her time with The Wallich, Adele said:
“I’ve become a different person. A better person. The Support Workers are amazing; they’ll do anything for me. They’ve made it an incredible journey, made it better life for me, they advised me, put me in the right direction and always encourage me to do well cause I’m a good person. They understand me, they know where I’ve been, what type of journey I’ve been on and I’m better now.”

After years of addiction, Faisal completed an intense abstinence programme at a Wallich project in Swansea. He has now reclaimed his independence and is ready to start a new chapter in a safe, permanent home.
“It’s been good since I’ve been here. I’ve had loads of support. I feel great now. I don’t want to go back to bad areas, where there are circles of drugs. I don’t want to go back down that road again. I’ve been there, done that, worn the t-shirts. It’s a mug’s game. I’ve achieved a lot since I’ve been in The Wallich project. I’m in the process now of moving on.”

Louisa Turner, Head of Fundraising at The Wallich, said:
“At The Wallich, we believe that everyone has a unique contribution to make. Our ‘Do Your Thing’ campaign is a celebration of that diversity. We see first-hand every day how empowering someone to be themselves can be the turning point in their journey out of homelessness.
“By choosing to fundraise in a way that reflects your own passions – no matter how unconventional – you aren’t just raising vital funds; you are sending a powerful message of solidarity. You’re proving that when we are all free to be ourselves, we can remove the barriers that hold people back and create a Wales where everyone has a place to call home.
