The Wallich launches 2025 winter campaign on World Homelessness Day: Be the turning point for someone facing homelessness

10 Oct 2025

On World Homelessness Day (10 October), The Wallich has launched its 2025 winter campaign – calling on the people of Wales to “be the turning point” for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Wallich Winter 2025 Campaign

The campaign focuses on small but vital acts of kindness that can change lives.

From topping up a phone so someone can access healthcare, to covering the last bit of rent a family needs to move into a safe home.

These timely interventions can be the difference between homelessness and stability.

Your support this winter can help someone move from homelessness to home, from fear to stability, from surviving to living and thriving.

Jess’s story

Winter campaign 2025 - Jess

Jess* saved every penny she could to give her children a safe home. But it wasn’t enough.

After receiving an eviction notice, Jess – a mother of four and full-time college student – was forced to move into temporary accommodation.

Determined to build a better future for her children, she worked hard and saved what she could.

But it still wasn’t enough to cover the upfront costs of securing a permanent home.

Jess faced an impossible choice: remain in unsettled, temporary accommodation, or take on unmanageable debt to give her children the stability they needed.

With the pressure mounting, Jess turned to The Wallich.

Thanks to support from the charity’s Flexible Assistance Fund, she received a small grant that covered the final costs needed to secure a tenancy.

Just in time, Jess and her children moved into a warm, stable home.

Small acts, big impact

The Wallich supports more than 8,000 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Wales every year.

Its Flexible Assistance Fund is there for people at crucial turning points:

These are not grand gestures.

They are small, timely interventions made possible by donations from the public.

And they can change someone’s life.

Christmas appeal

Running alongside our main appeal, The Wallich will also be raising funds to make the festive season a little brighter for people who might otherwise go without.

With your support, we can provide a traditional Christmas dinner for residents to share with one another and with our staff. A chance to come together, enjoy good food, and feel part of a community.

Alongside the meal, each person will also receive a small Christmas gift, a simple but meaningful reminder that they are not forgotten.

Together, these small gestures bring warmth, dignity, and hope at what can otherwise be a very difficult and lonely time of year.

Louisa Turner, Head of Fundraising at The Wallich said

“At The Wallich, fundraising allows us to go beyond the basics.

“We provide personalised, compassionate support that truly changes lives.

“From creative projects that help people rebuild confidence, to our Mobile Operations team taking vital services directly to those most in need.

This winter, we’re asking the people of Wales to get behind our appeal and help create more turning points for those facing homelessness.”
