The Wallich Winter Nightshelter Campaign Cardiff Homelessness Charity £26,000

Thanks to your support, we’re on our way to reaching our Keep The Lights On target. Read our roundup of the campaign to date.

It’s been a busy month of running, raffles and raising funds at work and in schools since we launched the Keep The Lights On Campaign and thanks to you – we have already raised £26,635 towards our £89,000 target.

Here’s a quick overview of how our supporters have helped so far:

The Wallich Cardiff Half Marathon 2019 - Run For Homeless Charity Wales

Cardiff Half Marathon 2019

On Sunday 6 October, 50 fabulous runners joined #TeamWallich for the Cardiff Half Marathon, raising an amazing total of £13,390.85.

We couldn’t be prouder of our #TeamWallich runners who made a fantastic effort to raise as much money as possible to help to fund our Cardiff Nightshelter.

“There’s a real sense of community and belonging within The Wallich, this was even more evident on race day. Lots of support and encouragement from across the board including the CEO in a dinosaur suit!”
– Cardiff Half Runner, 2019

Pyjama Onesie day - Schools fundraising and raising money for homeless people Wales

School fundraising

This month’s winner of most adorable support must go to the schools across Wales taking part in Wallich Onesies and other fundraising activities.

Wallich Onesies means free lesson plans for schools, helping to raise knowledge and awareness of the issues facing people experiencing homelessness among students. Pupils also nominated a day to wear their best onesies to school and raise vital funds for The Wallich.

Children learning about homelessness have raised more than £1,500 so far.

Golley Slater Wales Raising Money For Cardiff Welsh Homeless Charity - Shit Shirt Day - Clash of the Corporates

Clash of the Corporates 2019

Our corporate supporters have been busy raising funds for The Wallich this autumn in our annual fundraising challenge, Clash of the Corporates.

Five intrepid teams of employees from Golley Slater, PwC, Celtic English Academy, ISG plc and Royal Educare took on the challenge to raise as much money as they could from £50 of investment over 50 days.

The teams ran with some very diverse fundraising activities including bake offs, raffles, Halloween events, an evening of mediumship and a ‘Sh*t Shirt Day’.

Altogether, the teams raised an amazing £8,014.73 to support our Keep The Lights On campaign. Well done, teams.

Community support

Thanks to generous support from our community and businesses, we have also received more than £5,000 through donations, raffle ticket sales and Christmas card sales.

Where your money goes

Every £41 raised pays for a night at our emergency Nightshelter, which provides warmth, shelter and support for someone who would otherwise have no choice but to spend a night on the streets.
