B&Bs are a last resort for someone without a home. That’s why we’re building a network of houses and flats which act as an alternative for people in crisis.

Alterative Bed & Breakfast Accommodation (ABBA) plays a vital role in providing stable accommodation and tailored support to people and families who need it.

How does it work?

Working with landlords, local authorities and housing associations, we have developed a robust network of temporary housing options across the city.

The ABBA team manages the accommodation and provides tailored support for those living with us.

ABBA is made up of more than 40 properties across Swansea, which we look after on behalf of housing providers, including Swansea Council, Pobl and Ceredig and The Wallich itself.

These properties are used to provide short-term temporary accommodation for individuals and families who are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness.

• 2 bedroom flats
• 2, 3 and 4 bed houses

Whether for single people or families, we strive to match each person with the most appropriate property for their situation.

Where possible, we will accommodate pets.

Wrap-around support

Every person housed through The Wallich’s ABBA project is assigned a dedicated Temporary Accommodation Worker who helps them settle in and take steps toward independent living.

Our approach at The Wallich is always person-centered – we understand that everyone’s situation is unique.

Our support is varied and tailored to the individual to suit their needs.

Accessing the ABBA service

All referrals for ABBA come directly from Swansea Housing Options via the Temporary Supported Accommodation Pathway (TAP).

Once referred, Housing Options will work with The Wallich allocate a suitable property.

The ABBA team will allocate a Temporary Accommodation Worker to provide ongoing support to the individual or family moving in.
