Swansea Rapid Rehousing

Swansea Rapid Rehousing aims to make any experiences of homelessness brief and non-occurring

Swansea Rapid Rehousing is aimed at helping people in temporary accommodation prepare for and find a new permanent home, as quickly as possible.

Following similar principles set out by the Housing First model, Rapid Rehousing is a housing-led approach with critical time interventions.

We make sure people stay in their accommodation with intensive wrap-around and trauma-informed support.

How it works

Referrals into the project are completed via the TAP team at Housing Options Swansea.

Once a referral has been received, one of The Wallich’s Rapid Rehousing Support Workers will be assigned to an individual.

Support Workers help clients to access the services and interventions they need, such as:

• Building resilience
• Gaining confidence
• Reducing harm
• Acquiring personal and social skills to meet their aspirations and sustain their tenancy

Support Workers can assist people to:

• Stay in contact with Housing Options
• Contact private landlords
• Attend property viewings
• Register with a GP
• Deal with changes to benefits and access appropriate grants
• Set up a new home
• Set up utilities and household bills
• Find furniture and household items
• Access specialist agencies such substance use, harm reduction, food banks and more

If you are currently in temporary housing, your caseworker in Housing Options may have discussed Rapid Rehousing support with you.
